Finally, a full environmental education program in the Living Water Garden! It will be the hub for environmental education in the greater Chengdu area in collaboration with Chengdu Urban River Association. They will have programs, exhibitions and products in a 2000 sq ft facility with a comprehensive water museum, inter-active computer learning and a lecture/film center. Three goals are primary in this project: (1) Find a new way for environmental education projects to fit into economic development in rural China, (2) train three university students to become experts in community conservation education and sustainable development in Chengdu, and (3) encourage local people to participate in the conservation and development in their own area.

We are looking for a director and volunteers for this project. The Living Water Garden has always been a magnet and now it will be well sustained and will also host a Jane Goodall Center for A Sustainable World. Roots and Shoots, as part of their program, will provide environmental education expertise and will offer support and skills for students to work their best on this project.

Betsy is a board member of the Jane Goodall Institute in Beijing and the Living Water Garden Environmental Education Center will be dedicated as a Jane Goodall Center for a Sustainable World.
